SCOTTY ENTERPRISES, founded 2007, is a space from artists for artists, located in Kreuzberg in the city of Berlin.
The crew of the art-spaceship consists of 18 artists; with painting, drawing, photography, installation, film and video a wide spectrum of artistic media is represented.
SCOTTY ENTERPRISES presents artistic positions and realizes exhibitions with internal and external artists. It organizes events like film evenings and lectures about subjects which are discussed in the group and it is a platform for projects with other artists organisations.
SCOTTY ENTERPRISES is exhibition space, thinking space, space of action, and it gives spacefor artistic experiments.
The reference to the legendary science fiction series “Spaceship Enterprise” in the name is consciously chosen because SCOTTY ENTERPRISES is about fictions in and with art – and about the exploration of possibilities to realize them...

A unique photographic archive.
At a moment when the visual clarity made possible by digital photography is being viewed by amateurs an impediment to authenticity and feeling, this exhibition throws the current trend for syntheses of analogue imperfection into relief. Showcasing an extensive personal collection of images by the young German photographer Johannes Förster, produced during his formative years, Liquid Archive displays the sublime visual results and intellectual questions that have resulted from what might be described as an ‘act of god’.

Nuno Vicente - Sculptures made of earth, fire, water, air (Part III)
Sculptures made of earth, fire, water, air” is a series of 9 solo exhibitions by artist Nuno Vicente presented at the João Cocteau Gallery in Berlin. Conceived as a collaborative project, the Portuguese artist has invited 9 international curators to build a dialog around 9 pieces chosen from his new body of work. The series will culminate in the release of a publication about the artworks as well as the respective outcomes from the curators.

Ongoing: 7-9 December 2012. 14.00h – 20.00h

Ends 09.12.2012
Following the previous monographic exhibitions "Transformation of a dead body into a Foundation for Life" (curated by Lauren K. Reid) and "Memorial to ephemerality" (curated by Carolina Jiménez), the third edition of this ongoing project will be featuring "Burial of a taxidermied animal" and "Dead bird turned into stone", two artworks specifically created for this occasion.
Along his career as an artist, Nuno Vicente has built a creative imagination made of moss, wood, clay, earth, stones, tears, dead flowers, turtles and birds — the semantics of the elementariness.
The response of Spanish curator Paz Ponce for this exhibition is designed as an attempt to unveil the poetic gesture behind Nuno Vicente’s artistic practice, drawing an indirect reflection on the nature of installation art in itself. At the same time, this exhibition offers a parallelism inbetween Vicente’s work and the poetic genre of Haiku, dissecting some of the core elements articulating both artistic languages.

e-flux is pleased to announce a book launch for a new publication in the e-flux journal series: a collection of essays by Hito Steyerl, at Pro qm. On Friday, December 7th at 7:30pm, please join us for a talk by Hito Steyerl, with an introduction by Brian Kuan Wood.
In Hito Steyerl's writing we begin to see how, even if the hopes and desires for coherent collective political projects have been displaced onto images and screens, it is precisely here that we must look frankly at the technology that seals them in. The Wretched of the Screen collects a number of Steyerl's landmark essays from recent years in which she has steadily developed her very own politics of the image.

Black Holes - Ulrike Mohr
Time becomes material.
Meanwhile meaning and sense get lost in immateriality. Only the energy of the transformed object persists. And with it the reference to a small eternity the thinking of it defies even the biggest courage.
There is the charming impression of unclear spaces of time. There also is the maelstrom of density and a totally unmetaphysic spell: Alchemy. Black turns to brilliance. And to where this happens no human path will ever lead. Just guess and smoke, literally taken. The form only remains. And the knowledge which wavering and searching closes the objects in.

What is cultural heritage? What does it mean to belong to a certain culture? The exhibition project Empirical Survey on a Heritage is working on possible answer towards those questions. The main object of investigation is the Sardinian culture and the works of 4 artists mantaining a very complex and different relation with Sardinia and its heritage.
Alessandro Sau and Cristina Meloni were born and raised in Sardinia. In 2012 they got seleced for the 3 month-residency, established by berlin-island programm in collaboration with Culturia (http://www.culturia.de)
Empirical Survey on a Heritage is the second and concluding part of berlin-island programm, a trilogy of projects about Sardinian culture. This trilogy started in 2010 with the residence- and exhibition- project Genau, Sardinia! and continued in 2011 with Holiday Island. The implementation of the concept has been made possible by the Sardisches Kulturzentrum Berlin (center for Sardinian Culture).

"TIME WILL COME"
Sometimes we need a radical change.
Life is full of decisions made by us and for us,
Sometimes we aren't the owner of the event, sometimes there are fact over us:
for the ancient Maya the end of the world have a date: 22 December 2012.
After this date the world should be a new world: maybe 3 times Christmas and holiday all the day (L'anno che verrà by Lucio Dalla), maybe we would be divided into caste alfa, beta or lower gamma, delta and epsilon (Brave new world by Aldous Huxley), maybe nothing will change and we'll following the daily routine.

100 years ago, in 1912, Wassily Kandinsky published in the almanac "The Blue Rider" a text which seems to be a manifest on founding sound art - at least a foreshadowing of sound art. His writing "Über Bühnenkomposition" (On stage composition) is a theoretical preface on a planned stage piece called "Der gelbe Klang" (The yellow sound) and in this text he postulated a new connection between the arts, an "inner" connection of "sound, color, words" and movement. His piece was never realised in his lifetime.
The installation Der gelbe Klang2 (The yellow sound2) as a homage to Kandinsky takes his conceptual ideas and makes a transfer into a contemporary sound art piece. Georg Klein often works in his sound art installations with a certain color which defines togehter with a basic sound a fundamental atmosphere of a specific site, preparing a field in which more material - sounds, words, video - can appear.

Ends 14.01.2013
This exhibition highlights O’Donoghue’s forensic interest in the medium and process of painting and an ongoing dialogue with the mediation of images through digital technology. Hovering between the realms of abstraction and representation, between the mathematical encoded and the organic, O’Donoghue’s paintings are the result of a process which is highly analytical and methodical and yet inviting of errors, misalignments and glitches. The imagery comes almost exclusively from found photographs sourced from the Internet, where O'Donoghue plays with random throw-away moments of everyday life, merging them together in various interconnected themes. In O’Donoghue’s work, the painterliness of his technique works with the disposable nature of his subjects to make the work sometimes poignant and melancholic, or alternatively brittle and harsh. His work is deeply influenced by the digital high speed reality we now live in and he transports these seemingly meaningless sound-bite images...

Mario Asef's public interventions, photographs, videos, soundscapes and installations focus on the legibility of urban space and architecture into a specific social- cultural context within a historical moment.
Hopping to find a way to explore an intimate social-critical and political aspect of forms, the artist develop a system of telling, in the sense of a thought experiment that aims to produce an unpredictable effect - a moment of logical absurdity-creating a fiction of the real. He is a precise and yet poetic recorder of the fleeting and the mundane. His work emphasise, in an unpretentious and yet precise way, moments of displacement and the disappearance of space and time. In a subversive and humorous way, Mario Asef manages to breach the rules of the every day life. Like a researcher he explores, with the most different mediums, the construct of public spaces and public life.
