a rendezvous in Berlin is not an exhibition but a project, originated from conversations between artists who temporarily participated to a path, or who share an aptitude and common interests. Limit, margin, border and incorrectness are the key words from which the works that will compose the visual space of the show arised. The word, used in its effective actuality vis-a-vis the real, is the vehicle that linked the different works.

"Art has always been the site of social and political power struggles. It has the capacity to defi ne or question existing power structures through representation. This can in turn influence how we as individuals are positioned, and position ourselves, in society. Simultaneously, social hierarchies within the art world defi ne whose voices are heard and whose are silenced. Although and sometimes precisely because artists of Color have very limited access to established cultural institutions, art can function
as a means of protest and resistance. With their work, artists of Color can produce new, self-defined images, beyond White cultural ascriptions, and give these often marginalized perspectives greater visibility in society." (sandrine micosse)

Ends 02.09.2015

You're invited to follow the amazing global art initiative 'FRAGILE - global performance chain journey' in which more than 750 artists from 62 countries are participating.
Can one fragile object, in times of email, chat and mobility, pass one time all around the world safely – from hand to hand, charging itself with stories and people? Will it be the same when it returns?

For the project, more than 750 artists from all over the world work together in one same action: all will carry one fragile object step by step around the planet.
The journey of the object and the works the artists will conceive during the project will be communicated on the website and in regular newsletters.
