"Pernille Koldbech Fich's creative medium is photography. To date, she has produced mainly portraits, which exude a tremendous psychological and poetic power. The fascination radiating from Koldbech Fich’s photographs lies in the magnetism of her characters surrounded by an impression of loneliness, and in the role into which the viewer is drawn as he puzzles over their history. Taken in a dark interior reminiscent of oil paintings by the old masters, the photographs show a manifest painterly quality, which Koldbech Fich employs to suggest a certain 'timelessness' and therefore universal validity of those mental states depicted."

His drawings develop from a large number and variety of forms, which the artist produces using different lead and graphite pencils as well as graphite dust on pre-cut drawing paper. In time-consuming work Kutschbach shades, smears, erases and scratches his way to the finished drawing, using a variety of erasers and rulers. Kutschbach’s constellations of a cheerful scurrility - "combinations of hand axe and intergalactic refuse" (C. Tannert) -, are perfectly suited to the titles that the artist gives them, making wide use of Lewis Carroll's witty play with words as found in his book "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There"..."

11 artists “in transit” from Canada, the USA, Greece, Chile, Mexico, P.R. China and Germany from the postgraduate program Public Arts and New Artistic Strategies at the Bauhaus University will exhibit work based on the idea of memory and the dissolution of the “white cube”. The “white cube” can be considered a monumentalized term from a globalized Eurocentric perspective on contemporary art. As public artists, the participants have explored the elasticity of the terms's edges, testing for abstract potential, flexibility, and mobility.
This project was developed in relation to the question of how an art space might continue after it is (re)moved from its precarious position within existing architectural structures in a rapidly transforming urban environment: as an idea, a concept, or actual mobile space, possibly floating, disembodied, into the future.

Exhibition II features the witty and lighthearted “Blasomat” installation by Berlin based duo Mikko Gaestel and Rasso Hilber. There will be a site-specific wallpaper and drawing installation by Veronika Schumacher. Archivo video_dumbo is held over for the next exhibition, offering the chance to see the full program of 40 works by International video artists. Francisco Montoya from Mexico will create a custom painting installation.
The documentation video of Clemens Wilhelm’s latest performative piece, "Je Crois Que Je Suis Malade" (I believe I am Sick) will be on view. Berlin based Constantin Hartenstein premieres "The Exciting Life", a nine channel, larger than life video installation dealing with advertisings’ absurd schemes."

(Istanbul) Transit is the first exhibition of the Topos Istanbul series that will occur at the passage de Retz in Paris. In this exhibition, the artists have chosen to deal with the phenomenon that is Istanbul. They confront their own ideas of the city with the utter reality of its everyday life. Fluxes of images will be shown in relation with artistic exchanges and how they are affected by Istanbul's dailiness, and more importantly how can one divert this daily momentum in search of an artistic process. (Istanbul) Transit is the first exhibition of the Topos Istanbul series that will occur at the passage de Retz in Paris. In this exhibition, the artists have chosen to deal with the phenomenon that is Istanbul. They confront their own ideas of the city with the utter reality of its everyday life. Fluxes of images will be shown in relation with artistic exchanges and how they are affected by Istanbul's dailiness, and more importantly how can one divert this daily momentum in search of an artistic process. What is the place of art in this ubiquitous everyday life?

"The changing of spaces over time forms the central motif in the works of Norbert Wiesneth. As a “chronicler of absence”, he traces the contradictions and new formations of abandoned (city) spaces. Disturbing elements of apparently formally-arranged objects establish narrative layers. Wiesneth bases his series in empty rooms of a once famous hotel in Tangier, which is being gradually reconquered by nature; in decaying socialist architecture on the Baltic Sea; and in unkempt traffic islands in metropolitan road systems. If you immerse yourself in these analogue black and white photographic scenes, the absence seems to come to life."

"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."
