Enda O'Donoghue - Is Feeling Lucky!
hunchentoot - Galerie für zeitgenössische Positionen
Choriner Straße 8, 10119 Berlin
Tel: +49 (0)30 41 72 54 30 | Email: kontakt@galerie-hunchentoot.de
http://www.galerie-hunchentoot.de
Gallery opening times: Wed - Fri 4pm-7pm, Sat 11am-6pm
Berlin
Ends 16.10.2010
The images in Enda O’Donoghue’s paintings all come from the Internet. They are all other people’s images, digitally found images. Searching through popular online social networks and blogs on an ongoing basis, he compulsively collects and catalogues photographs that he finds. The photos which he works with are most often the throw-away shots which otherwise gather digital dust buried away on hard-drives, camera chips, mobile phones or uploaded and then lost or forgotten someplace on the Web. With each image he paints he is meticulous about tracing the ownership and requesting permission, partly as a way of dealing with the anonymous nature of the Internet and also a reaction to the issues surrounding online privacy and copyright.
Enda O’Donoghue is an Irish artist who has been living and working in Berlin since 2002. His work was recently featured at the 2010 Expo in Shanghai and in 2009 he had a solo exhibition in New York at the Irish Arts Center.

M FOR FAKE – It’s political – and not just on paper / Nataša Drakula
MEINBLAU
Christinenstraße 18/19
D-10119 Berlin
http://www.meinblau.de
Hours: Wed – Sun, 2 – 8 pm
Artist:
Media: videoinstallation, photography
Berlin
Ends 17.10.2010
M for Fake, referencing sham marriages, is the title of the multichannel installation. The artist Nataša Drakula juxtaposes the clearly recognizable image of her own wedding against two films with undiscernable protagonists. The installation M FOR FAKE shows examples of marriages of convenience, marriages for protection, sham marriages. Nataša Drakula questions various anonymous participants about their experiences and motives, their fears and desires. The figures in silhouette are distinguishable through their hand gestures and body language, but not identifiable. Through this reduction, the artist transforms individual destinies into paradigms. In this way, the exhibition also preserves the dignity of the narrators. The artist shows that original artistic means and approaches that function on an aesthetic level can deliver a considerably illuminating contribution to the current discussion of integration and assimilation processes.

Anthology of Optimism
La chose projects
http://lachoseprojects.com/
Location:
MMX Open Art Venue e.V.
Linienstr. 142/ 143
10115 Berlin-Mitte
http://mmx.mx/
Berlin
Ends 18.10.2010
Artists:
Sascha Blume • Carly Fisher • Lola Göller • Constantin Hartenstein • Hideaki Idetsuki • Martin Meyenburg • Alex Neuschäfer • Pete Moran • Sharman Riegger • Julien Rouvroy • Benjamin Rubloff • Betti Scholz • Elmar Vestner • Bastian Vogel
What went wrong with ‘the future’? How did ‘tomorrow’ lose its promise? What happened to the endless possibilities and solutions it once represented to our grandparents? And why is what has not yet happened being handled with so much precaution and skepticism nowadays?
Drawing on broad ranging perspectives, the exhibition will seek to provide a critical view of the possibilities and shortcomings of once-dreamt utopian totalities. By exploring what relevance these past imaginings of the future hold for current notions of progress, it will also expose our own ideas of what is yet to come.

Universitas, Roland Fuhrmann
BTU Cottbus
Konrad-Wachsmann-Allee 1
or entrance Karl-Marx-Strasse
in front of the new library by Herzog de Meuron
About Roland Fuhrmann
http://www.berlinerpool.de/?profiles=Artists&id=127
Germany - Cottbus
Ends 22.10.2010
From now on new work of Roland Fuhrmann can be visited, which is permanently installed in the entrance hall of the main building of the Brandenburgian Technical University of Cottbus (art-and-construction). It is open week-daily and around the clock (night doormen).
"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."

New (art) Economy - MassimoToffolo Ltd
http://www.factory-art.com/
Berlin
Ends 30.10.2010
People talk about sex when they don't make it enough and about money when they don't have it ... Indeed as said good old Oscar Wilde: "When bankers get together, they talk about art. When artists get together, they talk about money." Guess why...
The idea of Massimo Toffolo that every day in his warehouse studio produces art because he needs it.
The current project of Massimo Toffolo, designed and painted on large canvases post-it, as the stories of the series "The Rumanian rider", was created directly on the canvas without afterthoughts, finally the way is open: why "justify" a product? It's the man who counts. The art is going forward, the market is going forward and the idea of blocking everything and shift into reverse has never worked. So go forward! The market doesn't wait ..

I look at the window - Project for the 4th Month of Photography
Gallery Axel Obiger
Brunnenstraße 29
Berlin, Germany
Berlin
Ends 28.11.2010
The view out of or into the window is a photographic reflex. The earliest existing photograph is a view from the studio of Nicéphore Niépce. To this day, the interaction of the window frame and the image boundary is a concept that artists continually reformulate in the most diverse of ways. The view outwards is, therefore, often a view into the artist's inner self.
The exhibition presents young European photographic talents on the subject of the window. This may be a view out of the window, into the window or of the window, and is linked to the contradiction that sight is granted a freedom that remains denied to the body.
