"On march the 18th 1990, six of Rembrant, Manet, Flink and Vermer's paintings, five of Degas's drawings, one vase and a napoleonic eagle, were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Isabella Stewart Gardner had stipulated in her will that after her death, nothing in the museum was to be
touched. So, after the theft, the spaces previously occupied by the stolen paintings and objects remained empty. I took a picture of this involontary staging of absence and I asked the conservators, guardians and other employees of the museum to describe the missing objects..."

"The exhibition Seized documents the FBI raid on the house of CAE member
Prof. Steve Kurtz in May 2004, following the death of his wife Hope. In the
weeks prior to the raid Steve and Hope Kurtz had been preparing for an
exhibition examining GM agriculture at Mass MoCA. An emergency worker of the
fire department responding to Steve Kurtz’s 911 call found materials in
their house related to the upcoming exhibition suspicious and informed the
FBI. The raid, conducted by FBI-officers wearing hazmat suits, and blocking
off a half block radius of the home, caused much media attention..."

Deutschland-Korea: Migrationsbewegungen im Kalten Krieg

Artists (considered): msk7, Chan-Kyong Park, Michael Hieslmair/Marusa, Sagadin/Michael Zinganel, Yeondoo Jung u.a.
Germany and Korea have in common not just the experience of having been divided countries but also a range of diverse and multilayered migration histories.
The conventional picture of the labour migration is characterized by economically motivated movement of people from the poor south to the rich north. The exhibition adds a focus on the hitherto largely neglected aspect of politically motivated migration between west and east. At the same time however, the intention is to displace these axes. The existing pictures are questioned from a south-west north-east perspective and new horizons opened up. For trans-national migration during the cold war also involved the simultaneous possibility of a trans-systemic migration.

Primal Noise
audio – visual performance
Luka Dekleva & Cameron Bobro
The concept of this project is grown from deliberately limited expressive possibilities of sound and vision. In execution, the authors establish boundaries on the possibilities of expression at narrow regions in the fields of all potential sonic and visual spectra. Working within such limited spectra has the curious effect of both contracting and expanding the scope of expression within the work. Every musical gesture finds itself manifested in vision, and vice versa.

Kaori Nakajima - Malerei, Collage
Aiko Okamoto - Installation

"You open the door, enter into the garden. All is calm, all is beautiful. But suddenly the world begins to melt, like a drop of color in water, it turns, it blends, and is still again, but something is a little different than before. Paintings and collages by the Japanese artist Kaori Nakajima seem to represent a happy ordinary world, but when you look at them longer, you fall into an intermediate gap between reality and illusion, life and death. Similarly, the video works by Aiko Okamoto convey visions between the now, the past and the boundless future. Acting as a VJ she plays with the mixing of this imagery.
The work being shown, having been created especially for the exhibition, smudges the lines of perception and invites the viewer to walk in-between."

"In 2006 Anna Livia Löwendahl-Atomic begun a durational work titled This Too Shall Pass which will continue for the rest of her life. This Too Shall Pass is a “mind collage” and a meditation on time where Löwendahl-Atomic is leaving a hidden trace of her own existence in places where she passes through. This is accomplished without adding anything to the world, by an act of sheer rearrangement. It starts at a lover’s house in the summer of 2006 where she unscrews a screw which later replaces another screw in another place..."

Ends 22.10.2010

From now on new work of Roland Fuhrmann can be visited, which is permanently installed in the entrance hall of the main building of the Brandenburgian Technical University of Cottbus (art-and-construction). It is open week-daily and around the clock (night doormen).

"UNIVERSITAS - Light-Orbiter
diameter 2,20 m (7,35 ft), 40 solar cells, created 2007, realized 2009
A blue ring turns slowly in space. With changing beam of light flares its iridescent surface from silicon crystals. The light-weight construction embodies pure function and associates airship structures and outer space habitats. Noiseless weightlessness dominate the scope. The light orbiter decelerate the speed of light into a contemplative orbit and transfers it as positive load to the viewer."
