arttransponder & berlinerpool>FLASHLIGHTS>Eintritt in ein Lebewesen

Datum: 27.10.2011 / Donnerstag
Zeit > 18 Uhr - 21 Uhr

Workshop von
KAI GREGOR

Thema

Second International ICST Conference on Arts and Technology - Calls for papers, art installations, etc
•Application Deadline

01.10.2011

The International Conference on Arts and IT (ArtsIT2011) will be held in Esbjerg, Denmark, December 7th-9th, 2011. This conference is planned to be a place where people in arts, with a keen interest in modern IT technologies, meet with people in IT, having strong ties to arts in their works. The aim is to bring art to all people while offering the artists a creative tool to extend the grammar of the traditional arts.

With the evolution of intelligent devices, sensors and ambient intelligent/ubiquitous systems, it is not surprising to see many researches and arts projects starting to explore the design of intelligent artistic artefacts. Ambient intelligence supports the vision that technology will become invisible, embedded in our natural surroundings, present whenever we need it, attuned to all our senses, adaptive to users and context and autonomously acting. High quality arts or information should be potentially available to any user, anywhere, at any time, with any device.

The information environments will be the major drivers of culture which will eventually lead to the future space (intelligent, interactive, invisible and informative) - Utopia kind of life.

25th IMAGES FESTIVAL
•Application Deadline

17.10.2011

ELIGIBILITY
We do not have a specific timeline for eligibility, just that we are looking for “recent” work. Generally, this is probably defined as being made within the last two to three years, but we ask artists to use their best judgment on how to
define what is recent and relevant. Artists must maintain final edit and copyright control.

CATEGORIES AND AWARDS
The Images Festival does not break down its programming into categories such as animation, drama, documentary, experimental. We are interested in screening films and videos, in any category, that have an inventive, aesthetically unconventional approach in terms of form, content, story and structure. We look for the inspired and the critical, the confounding and the revelatory, the scurrilous and the eccentric, and recognize that these may come in many kinds of packages. The Images Festival pays screening fees for all works selected for the Festival. Also, a number of
awards are presented each year...

Established in 1987 and dedicated to the moving image in all its forms, the Images Festival is the longest running and most influential integrated media arts festival in Canada. Our ON SCREEN program is an annual survey of
contemporary artist’s film and video presented in a cinema context.

Description of the Theme: My Reuse Design

IED calls young creatives to develop ideas and projects describing My
Reuse Design: please apply the reuse concept to the area of studies that
you prefer, Fashion, Design, Visual Communication, Management.

Reuse means using an item more than once, for the same function, or for
a second life, when it is used for a different purpose. By reusing, we can
create new shapes from old materials. Reuse helps saving time, money,
energy, and resources, it can offer quality products to people and
organizations with limited means, it can generate jobs and business
activities that contribute to the economy. Reuse is a very important part
of a sustainable behavior. Reusing is different from recycling, which
consists in processing used materials for the production of new objects.

No, No, I Hardly Ever Miss a Show
•Application Deadline

30.10.2011

"A survey, created in cooperation with the sociologist Joanna Erbel, carried out amongst Zacheta's spectators will investigate, amongst others, how the gallery, and its exhibitions and staff are perceived by visitors. Zacheta's exhibition halls will become a space for an exchange of ideas and thoughts, both in a "traditional" way (lectures, discussions), as well as in an interactive manner (workshops, art interventions). The audience, who is the main protagonist of the exhibition, will be able to actively participate in the creation of the show by sharing its comments, manifesting its expectations and, finally, voting on issues regarding the construction of the exhibition and the popularity of an artwork. The exhibition will reveal the mechanisms through which the gallery operates. By becoming, to a certain degree self-referential, the exposition will demonstrate the processes involved in the preparation and running of an exhibition..."

"We would also like to know how artists, who form a peculiar group of spectators, perceive us—the gallery. The peculiarity of artists is based on their duality, on the one hand they are creators and active participants, on the other, they can be also considered passive viewers. This is why we are announcing an Open Call—in which we invite artists to submit their artworks and projects together with a completed questionnaire. The elements comprising the exhibition No, No, I Hardly Ever Miss a Show will contribute to the image of the gallery and its public. The title phrase is the starting point for research into who really visits exhibitions at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art and how they do so."
