TERRORIST
•Application Deadline
10.01.2010
‘The Geography of Uncanny” is a group of living areas where the geographic powers leave behind to the powers over geography. The boundaries of these areas sometimes appear and disappear in the form of bombings at the doorsteps. Stockhausen’s interpretation of the September 11 attack as in “ the greatest work of art in the entire cosmos” reminds us how the terrorist identity can be regenerated in different readings.
The integration of masses that are in ‘dangerous relationships’ with the system into the economic chain is politics of identification.
The “uncanny” must blend within the power through their new identities. So, is the terrorist identity a political and a financial medium to convert the “uncanny” or does it contain the language of misfit for the resistance of the “uncanny”?
The urge to destroy the one sided concept of terrorism built in between financial politics and economics policy of capitalism, is inviting us to regenerate the image of “terrorist”.

C/O Berlin, International Forum for Visual Dialogues presents the project “Close Up!” in cooperation with the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. From February 11 to 21, 2010, 18 young photographers will receive the opportunity to experience working as professional photojournalists at the Berlinale.

Each participant will decide on a theme, embark on a search for motifs, select images, and put together a series of works for exhibition. The photographs will be shown at C/O Berlin at the conclusion of the Berlinale and the best series will receive an award.
Prospective photographers between the ages of 20 and 25 who are still enrolled in their studies are invited to participate.

Art Factory Bialystok
•Application Deadline
16.01.2010
Jan. 16, 2010 - deadline for summer 2010 residence for fine artists - July-August 2010.
4-6 visiting artists spend 8 weeks working in close contact with cultural organizations in Białystok, namely the Asenał Gallery.

Art Factory Białystok provides artists with an environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and often instigates experimentation with new concepts and materials. The residency is non-prescriptive and process-based, allowing artists to develop projects in response to their new environment. Collaborative projects are strongly encouraged.
The participating artists will be chosen at the beginning of 2010 from an open call. The criteria for picking artists will be: 1) artistic merit, 2) letter of intent.

P A I N T
•Application Deadline
22.01.2010
An International Competitive Exhibit of Works of Contemporary Painting
Exhibit dates: March 5 - April 2, 2010
At some point, thanks to all that had gone before, society reached a level where ordinary people could spend a lifetime perfecting their ability to mix and apply paint, in extraordinary ways. Picasso put it nicely:
There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who, thanks to their art and intelligence,
transform a yellow spot into the sun.
Now Manifest seeks to present and document the best painting of the most varied types being made in the world today. PAINT is an exhibit that calls for works of painting from around the world, made by students or professionals, as they carry the tradition forward, or reform it for another day.

The Art of Storytelling - Call for Moving Image & Performance
•Application Deadline
01.11.2010
Storytelling has been shared in every society as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation or to instil morale or wisdom. Whether they are fables or true histories, improvisation or embellishment, delivered through the printed word, gestures or language - we each hold a story. The art of storytelling has undergone many changes as it has been passed down through the generations, moving from oral, written and illustration, to more technological based mediums; the story has grown and been adapted. Some have been forgotten and lost.
The Cutting Room are looking for artworks that explore and push these boundaries of storytelling.

film / video screening
Duration:London
•Application Deadline
08.11.2010
We envision Duration:London as a series of events that gather film, video and sound pieces which explore the ambiguities & absurdities of our contemporary existence. Whether it is approached from a fine-arts, documentary, experimental, formal, abstract or interdisciplinary angle, we believe that there is value in fostering a space which provides a forum for sharing which is neither a gallery, a juried film festival or an institution.
It is our goal to provoke discussion, open a dialogue and respect the significance of short works that perhaps fall in the grey zone between the "art world" and the "film industry".
We have scheduled screenings/happenings on September 29th, October 27th & November 24th, 2009.
Deadline ongoing until November 8th, 2009

Call for entries - Everything is Just Wonderful!
•Application Deadline

Concept of the Exhibition
Politics is ashaming the world, it’s no news. And there is not much we can
do.
Still, we can laugh about it.
John Heartfield/Helmut Harzfeld knew that, and back in the 40’s
entertained Europe with his amazing and satirical photocollages, striking
the regime right in its strictness with a totally peaceful but dangerous
power: the power to ridiculize.
“Everything is Just Wonderful!” is thus born under the bad influence of
John Heartfield, but obviously every means is permitted when it comes to
the satire.

Call for work: 'double lives: duple trials' Exhibition
