Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts solicits applications from professional visual artists and arts writers for its new Art & Law Residency Program, the first program of its kind.
As legal and judicial issues now permeate every aspect of social, political and cultural life, artistic production is no longer immune. The Art & Law Residency provides an intellectual and artistic setting for participants to engage in ongoing discussions and debates that examine the overlap and disconnect between artistic production and the law from historical, social, ethical and intellectual standpoints. Using law as both a discourse and medium, new visual artwork and critical writing will come into being through the Program. All the participants will also gain experience and knowledge they can carry into the future beyond the Program.

Each August, approximately a dozen musicians--composers and performers from around the globe--gather for two and a half weeks to share in a unique collaborative music making residency program. Music Omi invites applicants from all musical disciplines who wish to broaden their artistic horizons and engage actively with a diversity of other musicians. Unlike most artists residency programs, where artists come to work in isolation, Music Omi actively encourages the exchange of ideas and the sharing of cultures through active collaboration. A singular feature of the Music Omi experience is the presentation of two public concerts at the conclusion of the program (one on the Art Omi campus itself near the conclusion of the residency, and the other at a New York City venue the day following the conclusion of the residency).

An international scavenger hunt to see how artists from around the globe visually interpret the same items, which are then documented in a book and exhibitions.
This is as much a social experiment as it is an art exhibition. You will receive a universal list that you (and every participant involved) will use to visually interpret each item. Any medium may be used as long as it can be shipped to us (or photos taken and included on a CD). Experimentation and thinking outside of the box is the name of the game.
The final outcome is to document the project in two ways, including multiple exhibitions (at galleries in Brooklyn, NY and Seattle, WA) and in a book.
At least one of your items will be included in the book.

The objectives of the network are to help and nourish young emerging artists from the alternative performing arts, to develop talent, and to create a platform for the new generation of artists, nationally and internationally.
In Denmark, we have been arranging Junge Hunde festivals since 2001 - the last few years intenselyfocusing on international networking and creative feedback. We see these focus points as the fundamental basis for young and independent artists.
The next Junge Hunde festival is taking place in Aarhus, November 2010. Deadline for application is 15th of Feburary 2010. Check out the website http://www.jungehunde.dk for information on previous festivals in Denmark, and http://www.entrescenen.dk/jungehunde for application information.

The Photographic Alternative
For the past 15 years, Voies Off has offered an alternative approach to emerging contemporary photography, its particularities, its evolutions, and its areas of resistance.
Voies Off night projections during the opening week of the Rencontres d’Arles festival (first full week in July) have become an international reference for the discovery of emerging authors and the alternative venue that it creates for international photographic creation.
Year after year, the selected themes have met the evolutions of our contemporary world with a critical eye. Over twenty different nationalities are represented at each festival. Every year over sixty candidates are selected for the programme of the night-projections.
Every July, the Voies Off prize is awarded by a jury of renowned professionals to an artist for the clarity of his/her vision and the high quality of his/her work.
The current amount of the prize is 2,000 euros.

From the beginning, the art-making process has been the highest priority at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, where both the atmosphere and environment offer ideal situations for creative growth and experimentation. We address the practical aspects of this mission by providing well-equipped studio spaces, living accommodations and monthly stipends.

No one knows where or when was born the Tarot, nor who invented it.
We don't even know the meaning of this word, nor to which language it belongs to.
Some consider them an Alchemycal Work, Astrological, Cabalistic.. but in the first place Tarots are
an Art Work.
Everyone, from Initiates of different branches of Magic to Artists coming from every Nation,
everyone attempted to paint the real Tarot: but maybe the real Tarot doesn't even exist, and it is only
a constant research of a superior/interior knowledge. Behind the many significances of this ancient
Art, an intimate vision and a personal interpretation are hidden.
The Real Tarot is the one that each creates.
