The organization behind nopasswd wants to make it very clear that the A.C.C. will be personally responsible of the repercussions of every artistic action on the public space and on the local population .

The aim is the selection of a maximum of 8 proposals for the development of software pieces and interactive installations that propose a rethinking of the usual scenario in magic tricks. The workshop proposes to explore the use of open hardware and software tools in a collective and interdisciplinary manner in order to create technological prototypes with success in the Media from different perspectives: playful, creative and critical. The call is aimed at artists, magicians, engineers, musicians, programmers, designers, architects, hackers, psychologists, etc.

Author and theorist Lucy Lippard defines “place” as “space plus memory.” Separate from landscape art, investigations of place explore how the landscapes of personal places such as homelands, childhood homes, and ancestral spaces take on new forms when combined with memories and individual experiences. We are asking for submissions that successfully use video to illustrate personal narratives imprinted on landscapes, and landscapes imprinted on personal narratives, videos that use experimental imagery to explore how spaces are remade once they are remaining in the mind, and videos that strive to define and delve into the concept of place.

The first stage is now the open for the international competition for a Freedom and Unity Memorial in Berlin, in memory of the peaceful revolution of Autumn 1989, and as a memorial to movements and efforts undertaken over the centuries to achieve unity and freedom.
The future Memorial will be located at the plinth of the former national monument for Kaiser Wilhelm 1, at the Schlossfreiheit' in Berlin-Mitte.
The competition process is to be executed in 2 stages: The first stage is organised as an international open competition, without any restriction on entitlement to participate. The jury will select approx. 20 participants from the works, which are assessed anonymously, to enter into the 2nd stage.
The 2nd stage is executed as a competition for specifically invited entries, in the form of a cooperative process. The language of the process is German. A total of 10 million Euros has been set as the upper cost limit.

URBAN HACKING
The city of Vienna has a long tradition of art performances and interventions in public spaces. This year’s festival paraflows09 would like to connect these approaches to public and urban spaces while at the same time comment on the roles of digital media by exploring, challenging, and constructing urban infrastructure.
We are interested in projects that investigate the use of urban space for performances, the hacking of and intervention with urban publics. URBAN HACKING
The city of Vienna has a long tradition of art performances and interventions in public spaces. This year’s festival paraflows09 would like to connect these approaches to public and urban spaces while at the same time comment on the roles of digital media by exploring, challenging, and constructing urban infrastructure.
We are interested in projects that investigate the use of urban space for performances, the hacking of and intervention with urban publics. How can areas of freedom be created, discovered and be put to use? How do regulated spaces work as opposed to the unsupervised? Whom does the city/street/net and their infrastructure belong to? What role does technology play in the urban space? How can social structures be designed and remodelled? ...
